Veteran actress Shoma Anand turns a year older today. She was born on 16 February 1958. Born in Amritsar, her passion was dancing. She learnt dancing from Shambhu Sen, father of the music director, Samir Sen. Her first film was ‘Barood’ in 1976 opposite to Rishi Kapoor.

She has featured in various Bollywood films, like ‘Judaai’ (1980), ‘Himmatwala’ (1983), ‘Ghar Ek Mandir’ (1984), ‘Aag Aur Shola’ (1986), ‘Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni’ (1989), ‘Hungama’ (2003), and ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ (2003).
Other than Bollywood films, she has done TV serials as well. She appeared in ‘Hum Paanch’ (1995), ‘Bhabhi’ (2002), ‘Shararat’ (2003), and ‘Jeannie Aur Juju’ (2012).
There were rumours she was dating Ketan Desai, a Bollywood director while shooting for the Bollywood film, ‘Coolie’ (1983).
Shoma Anand got married to director Tariq Shah who passed away due to double pneumonia on 3 April 2021. With Tariq, Shoma has a daughter, Sarah Shah.
Her real name is Neelam Arora. She debuted in Bollywood with her name, Shoma Anand.
During Covid, her TV serial Hum Paanch was telecasted again. Shoma Anand felt that a lot of people who are at home are feeling depressed but can now forget everything and can have at 30 minutes of laughter with the Hum Paanch cast. Even the actor now sits down with her family and watches the show with them.
