The Indian compound archery girls and mixed team on Tuesday broke two Under-18 world records during their qualifying round of the World Youth Championships.  The girl’s team of Priya Gurjar, Parneet Kaur and Ridhu Senthilkumar combined for a total of 2067 points to beat the previous record by 22 points, which was 2045.

Priya Gurjar achieved a first-place finish while Parneet Kaur (third) and Ridhu Varshini Senthilkumar (fourth) were the next best positioned Indians during this round.

They beat the record of the American trio of Keane Sachiko, Breanna Theodore and Savannah Vanderwier who had the previous record of 2045, achieved in Rosario in 2017.

Priya, along with Kushal Dalal (705 points) accrued a mixed pair tally of 1401 which broke the previous mark held by the Danish duo of Natacha Stutz and Mathias Fullerton (1387) at the Madrid World Youth Championships in 2019.

17-year-old Priya later commented on her performance, saying, “I’m really happy but I can shoot even more than I did today.”

The compound U-18 team achieved a second-place finish with Kushal Dalal taking third place in the individual ranking round.
Defending U-18 recurve world champion Komalika Bari, who is returning to the Under-21 age group of juniors, was placed sixth with 656 points as the Indian women’s tea were fifth with a combined tally of 1905 points.
The recurve U-21 men’s team achieved a second-place finish with Parth Salunkhe (663 points) topping the Indian challenge with a seventh-place rank in the individual section. The men’s team had a total of 1977 points to take the second seed behind Russia.
