Ramesh Bais took oath as the 10th governor of Jharkhand. He has succeeded Draupadi Murmu.

Justice Ravi Ranjan, Chief Justice of Jharkhand administered the oath of office and secrecy to Bais. The ceremony took place at the Raj Bhavan and was attended by the state’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Ramesh Bais’s cabinet colleagues, MPs, MLAs, and senior officials of the state government were also present at the venue.

While congratulating Bais, Hemant Soren uttered, “I have full faith that your guidance will continue to give direction to the development of Jharkhand.”

Prior to this role, Bais was the governor of Tripura. Earlier he had served as the Union Minister of State for Steel and Mines, Chemical and Fertilizers, Information and Broadcasting, as well as Environment and Forests (Independent charge).

Ramesh Bais was the seven-term BJP MP of Raipur, Chhattisgarh’s capital.  On 6 July, he was among the eight governors who are appointed by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Bais has stepped into his political career as a councilor of the Raipur Municipal Corporation. He was later elected as a Member of the Madhya Pradesh assembly in 1980. He also served as the BJP vice president of the party’s MP unit.

Besides his interest in agriculture, he also acted as the president of the Chhattisgarh Archery Olympic Association.

Draupadi Murmu, the first woman governor of Jharkhand was given a guard of honor at Birsa Munda airport where the Chief Minister and other officials were present.  Hemant Soren was at the airport to receive Bais on his arrival.

Before Murmu left, she expressed her gratitude to all the officials and employees of Raj Bhavan for their cooperation.
