Ahead of the Assam assembly elections that is to be held on April 1&6, on Wednesday, March 31, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visits the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati and offers prayers. Gandhi offered prayer just before moving to Chaygaon and Barkhetri for addressing public rallies.
After offering prayers at the famous temple, Rahul Gandhi spoke to the reporters and said, “Congress has given five guarantees to the voters of Assam. Quoting BJP, It says that it fulfills its promises. It has also guaranteed Rs. 365 per day wage to the tea garden workers,” as quoted by ANI.

The Congress party in its manifesto for Assam polls has promised that it will not let the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to be implemented in the state. Besides this, Congress has also promised to give 200 units of free electricity per month to every household, raising monthly wages tea garden workers and giving Rs 2000 monthly assistance to every households.
Also, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is doing public rallies to sought votes for their candidates. The polling for the second and third phase in Assam will take place on April 1&6 respectively. The counting of votes will be done on May 2, 2021.
