On Wednesday, March 24, All India Trinamool Congress writes to Election Commission regarding immediate stop of deployment of State Armed Police (SAP) from BJP ruled states in West Bengal.
In a letter written from the office of TMC on 23rd March states that, “It has come to our notice that 30 companies of State Armed Police (S.A.P) from Uttar Pradesh has been directed to be deployed by the Election Commission for ongoing General Election to the Assembly Elections of West Bengal.
The letter further adds, “TMC has no objection on deployment of S.A.P. from any non BJP ruled states, however, we strongly object to deployment of S.A.P from UP, since it is governed by Bharatiya Janta Party and their Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath, is a star campaigner for Bharatiya Janata Party.”
“We call upon the Election Commission to immediately stop such movement/deployment of S.A.P from UP and/or any other BJP ruled state to West Bengal,” the letter concludes.

Bengal Legislative Assembly elections for 294 seats are scheduled to be held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in 8 phases. The results for the same will be announced on 2nd May 2021.
