A tragic maritime incident in the Strait of Hormuz has left three Indonesian sailors missing after the UAE-flagged tugboat Musaffah 2 sank following an explosion and fire. Authorities in the region have launched a search operation while an investigation is underway to determine what caused the blast aboard the vessel.

Explosion and Fire Before the Vessel Sank

According to Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the tugboat Musaffah 2 experienced a sudden explosion that triggered a fire while sailing through the strategic Strait of Hormuz on Friday. The fire quickly spread on board, forcing the crew into an emergency situation before the vessel ultimately sank.

The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes for global oil transport, has recently witnessed heightened security tensions. The incident involving the tugboat occurred amid broader instability in the region.
