Secretary-General of the United Nation, Antonio Guterres has expressed his worry about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. He called for an immediate ceasefire and urged the leaders to intensify diplomacy.
Antonio said,” In these critical moments I call for an immediate ceasefire and re-establishment of the rule of law. We need restraint and reason. We need de-escalation ‘Now’, I urge all to refrain from actions and statements that will take this dangerous situation over the brink. It is high time to turn to passive dialogue and negotiations.”
He also strongly condemns the recognition of the separatist regions of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic as independent regions. This decision shows that Putin has clearly violated territorial integrity and has made a mockery of peace-keeping negotiations.
Antonio Guterres urges for an immediate ceasefire by Russian troops and feels that the world is in tumultuous times facing an imminent threat to peace and stability.
