The death of Renee Nicole Good has drawn national attention and intensified scrutiny of federal law enforcement actions in Minneapolis. The 37-year-old Minneapolis resident was fatally shot by an agent of Immigration and Customs Enforcement during a volatile confrontation between officers and protesters in south Minneapolis, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

What Happened in South Minneapolis

The shooting took place on Wednesday at the intersection of East 34th Street and Portland Avenue, where federal and local law enforcement officials faced off with protesters for several hours. Tensions escalated during the standoff, eventually leading to the fatal shooting. Two federal sources later confirmed to CBS News that Renee Nicole Good was a citizen of the United States.

Minneapolis Mayor Demands Accountability

Following the incident, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey strongly criticised the actions of the federal agent involved. He stated that the agent had recklessly used power, resulting in the loss of life, and emphasised that city officials had feared such an outcome since the early stages of the increased ICE presence in Minneapolis. The mayor called for accountability and justice, saying the incident should never have happened.
