Walmart has announced to launch a new membership service for shoppers this month in a bid to compete with Amazon Prime.

Called Walmart Plus, it will cost nearly $98 a year, and give members same-day delivery to their homes on around 160,000 items, a fuel discount at affiliated gas stations and an opportunity to check out at Walmart stores without having to wait.

Unlike Amazon Prime, Walmart’s service would not include streaming entertainment.

Morgan Stanley analysts have predicted that about 20 million people are likely to sign up for the new service within a few months of its launch. However, other analysts found details of the actual offering underwhelming.
