U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday said he “fully expects a trade deal with the European Union,” adding that there will “100 percent” be a resolution on tariffs. The statement comes amid heightened global concerns over Trump’s aggressive tariff policy, which has disrupted long-standing trade ties.
Trump also claimed progress on multiple fronts, stating that trade talks with Japan are making “big progress,” though Japan’s Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato voiced worries over the broader economic fallout from rising tariffs. Trump further noted he had a “very productive call” with Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum and is scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni later Thursday.
“Every nation, including China, wants to meet!” Trump wrote on social media, signaling increased momentum for trade negotiations ahead of a potential tariff escalation cycle.
