On Friday, Moderna Inc said it expects to make 20 million doses of its experimental COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the year.
The biotech firm continues to expect to produce 500 million to 1 billion doses of the vaccine next year, the company said in a filing with the U.S. securities regulator.
As of now, there are no Coronavirus vaccines approved by U.S. regulators, although a few are in late-stage trials to prove they are safe as well as effective.
The Massachusetts-based biotechnology company is also planning to seek emergency authorization for its vaccine’s use in high-risk groups if it proves to be at least 70% effective.
