A team of Israeli scientists has claimed it has pioneered a “faster and more efficient” COVID-19 testing procedure, testing samples in pools of as many as 48 people at once.

The Israeli authorities are planning to roll out the new method in 12 labs across the country by October, amid concerns that another wave of COVID-19 might coincide with influenza season with potentially disastrous results, the New York Times reported.

Meanwhile, the total number of Coronavirus cases in Israel has surpassed the mark of 100,000 on Friday, Israeli Health Ministry confirmed.
