George W. Bush, the man who led his country’s response to the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001 and initiated the Iraq War in 2003, was a businessman before his election as the US president.

1. George Walker Bush served as the 43rd president of the US (2001-2009).
2. After graduating from Yale College (1968) and Harvard Business School (1975), he worked in the oil industry.
3. He has been an avid reader throughout his adult life. He read 14 Lincoln biographies, and during the last 3 years of his presidency, he read over 180 books.
4. Bush had various nicknames such as: Dubya and GWB.
5. In 1976, he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was fined 150 USD and his driver’s license was also suspended.
6. In 1993, Bush ran a marathon and finished it in 3 hours and 44 minutes. He was the first President to finish a marathon.
7. Bush was not only a runner, but also was a head cheerleader in his high school. He studied at Philips Academy, where he was part of the basketball team, and later, he was the head cheerleader in his senior year.
