At least four people were killed in a shooting during a family gathering at a banquet hall in Stockton, California, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. Spokeswoman Heather Brent confirmed the fatalities while addressing the media on Sunday.

Brent stated that early findings from the investigation suggest the shooting “may have been a targeted incident.” Authorities are still working to determine the motive and identify those involved.

Along with the four people killed, at least 10 others were injured in the shooting. The victims include both adults and children, officials said. Emergency services responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported, and the injured were transported to nearby hospitals.

The area has been cordoned off as detectives continue collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance footage from the banquet hall. More updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
