Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, announced in a tweet that the company will provisionally debut its blue check subscription feature next Friday after delaying it earlier this week.

According to Musk, the social media site would use various colour checks for businesses and individuals.

“Gold check for companies, grey check for governments, blue for individuals (celebrities or not). Painful, but necessary,” Musk said in a tweet.

Before the check is activated, all validated accounts will undergo manual authentication, according to Musk.

Due to the proliferation of bogus accounts, the firm decided to halt the recently announced $8 blue check subscription service. It had previously stated that the popular blue check subscription service would resume on November 29.

Before, only verified accounts of public figures including journalists, legislators, and well-known people could display the coveted blue check mark.
