According to the New York Post, Vice President JD Vance and a high-level US delegation are en route to Islamabad and expected to land within hours for the next round of peace talks with Iran.

President Trump confirmed the development in an interview with the outlet on Monday, stating the team including special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner is heading to Pakistan now. “They’ll be there tonight, Islamabad time,” he said.

Trump brushed aside concerns that the negotiations might collapse, telling The Post: “We’re supposed to have the talks. So I would assume at this point nobody’s playing games.”

The discussions come as a US-Iran cease-fire nears expiration amid regional tensions. Trump expressed willingness to meet senior Iranian leaders personally if a breakthrough occurs, but stressed one clear condition: Iran must completely abandon its nuclear weapons program.

“Get rid of their nuclear weapons. That’s all very simple. There will be no nuclear weapon,” he said, adding that Iran could become a thriving nation if it complies. He declined to detail potential consequences if talks fail, noting only that it “wouldn’t be pretty.”
