On August 3, SpaceX’s Crew Dragon Capsule safely landed off the Florida coast at 12:18 am IST. The two US astronauts, Bob Behnken and Douglas Hurley, returned to Earth after spending 63 days at International Space Station(ISS).

The rescue teams unlocked the hatch of the capsule and accompanied Mr. Bob Behnken and Mr.Douglas Hurley to leave the spacecraft, already in their space suits.

Behnken and Hurley created history as they were the first individuals on a private Spaceship designed by SpaceX to be placed into low-Earth orbit.

As part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Plan, SpaceX created the Crew Dragon, an effort that charged private corporations with developing commercial spacecraft to carry the agency’s astronauts into space.

Steve Stich, manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Service, told that the Coast Guard managed to clean the region before the incident, and the vessels didn’t mess with the actual splashdown themselves, noting, “We’ve got some work to do with SpaceX, we ‘re trying to work together to do a great job with the next splashdown.”

While getting out of the crew dragon Mr. Hurley stated,“You should take a moment to just cherish this day, especially given all the things that have happened this year.”

To mark the return of US human spaceflight on American land, Behnken and Hurley took a very unique piece of ISS freight home with them: a miniature American flag.

Over the past nine years the flag was on the space station, leaving there in 2011 by the last Space Shuttle astronauts

“I think for me, and probably for Doug as well, I think we’re really excited to see our families,” Behnken metioned ahead of his arrival.. “My son is 6 years old and I can tell from the videos that I get and talking to him on the phone that he’s changed a lot even in the just couple months that we’ve been up here.”

The capsule would be inspected out by boat, and then transferred to one of SpaceX’s Florida stations. That’s where the redevelopment will take place, so that it can go off to another mission.
