The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Thursday that its air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 118 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight in one of the largest reported drone attacks in recent months.
According to a statement posted on Telegram, the interceptions took place between 23:00 Moscow time on November 26 and 8:30 on November 27. The ministry said air defense systems “intercepted and destroyed 118 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles” across a wide geographic spread.
Russia reported the highest number of shootdowns in the Belgorod region, where 52 drones were destroyed. Another 26 UAVs were intercepted over the Kursk region, and 18 in the Samara region.
Six drones were shot down in both the Krasnodar Territory and the Bryansk region, while two UAVs were intercepted in each of the Voronezh, Lipetsk, and Orenburg regions. One drone was reportedly downed in each of the Volgograd, Tula, and Rostov regions, as well as over the Black Sea.
The ministry did not provide details regarding damage or casualties linked to the overnight incident.
