Pet Dogs to be handed over to the North Korean government due to meat shortage

North Korea has ordered that pet dogs be handed over to the North Korean Government due to a massive food crisis in the country.

Kim Jong-un the leader of North Korea, has ordered that pet dogs be handed over to the North Korean Government. This move comes after reports of a massive food crisis in the country.
According to reports, having pets is considered a symbol of capitalised decadence in the State of North Korea. This move has been heavily criticised as pet animals, especially dogs, are considered family by their owners.
A source said, “Authorities have identified households with pet dogs and are forcing them to give them up or forcefully confiscating them and putting them down. Some of the dogs are sent to state-run zoos or sold to dog meat restaurants.”
