The Nepali Congress will be rooting for Ram Chandra Paudel in the upcoming Nepali Presidential Elections with support from a coalition of 8 parties.
Nepal’s Presidential elections are scheduled to be held on March 9, 2023, while the Vice President’s elections will be conducted on March 17, 2023.
The tenure of the current President, Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Vice President, Nanda Bahadur Pun will end on March 12, 2023, and, March 17, 2023, respectively.
These elections are conducted through an electoral college consisting of members of the federal Parliament and provincial assemblies. Article 70 of the Nepali constitution mandates that the president and the vice-president must be from different genders or communities.
The Election Commission will publish the final list of President’s post candidates on February 28 while March 11 has been chosen as the date for filing nomination papers for the post of vice president.
