US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit Sudan in the coming days, a Sudanese official said.

Khartoum has been normalising relations with Washington since the overthrow of former leader Omar al-Bashir in April. However, Sudan is still seeking removal from a list of countries the United States considers as “state sponsors of terrorism.”

The Sudanese official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, did not give details of Mike Pompeo’s visit, Reuters reported.

The US Secretary is also due to visit Israel and the United Arab Emirates this week to discuss the countries’ normalisation deal.
