In a significant move, Libya’s UN-supported government has announced a cease-fire across the oil-rich nation.

The Government of National Accord (GNA) also called for demilitarizing the contested strategic city of Sirte, which is controlled by rival forces.

The Tripoli-based and internationally recognised government has not only demanded an end to an oil blockade imposed by rival forces but also called for parliamentary as well as presidential elections to be held in the month of March.
