The Group of Seven (G7) leaders assured Ukraine’s Foreign Minister of their support and warned more penalties on Russia.

In his meeting with the Foreign Ministers of the G7, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reviewed the unjustified Russian strike and the unified reaction to Russia. In a meeting attended by Anthony Blinken, G7 Foreign Ministers, and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, it was resolved that the G7 would respond unified to Russia’s attack.

“To express our united support for Ukraine. We will hold Russia accountable for its premeditated, unprovoked, and unjustified invasion and will continue to provide security, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine,” said Blinken.

Following their virtual conference, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States issued a united statement warning that if Russia does not cease its operations in Ukraine, they would impose more measures. In their virtual summit, the leaders declared that in order for an equal society to exist, they must address both the most serious structural difficulties and the most pressing crises.

The United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Canada moved on Saturday (February 26) to restrict certain Russian banks’ access to the SWIFT international payment system as part of new sanctions imposed on Moscow as it continues its attack on Ukraine.
