French President Macron enjoys Sufi music at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah

French President Emmanuel Macron, following his role as the chief guest at India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations held at Kartavya Path in Delhi, took a cultural detour to visit the Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah in south Delhi on January 26, Friday.

Situated in Delhi’s Nizamuddin West area, the 700-year-old mausoleum is dedicated to the revered Sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya and his disciple Amir Khusrau.

Emmanuel Macron arrived at the shrine around 9:45 pm and spent more than half an hour exploring the historic site.

Accompanying the French President were External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and other senior dignitaries. The visit followed discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Macron on January 25 and 26, culminating in the adoption of a Roadmap on Defence Industrial Cooperation between the two nations.
