Major European stock markets opened flat to slightly higher on Monday as investors geared up for a week packed with economic data and corporate earnings.

Switzerland and Turkey released their latest inflation numbers, while fresh manufacturing PMI readings from the euro area, Germany, and the United Kingdom are set to be published later today. The data comes after the European Central Bank (ECB) opted to hold interest rates steady last Thursday.

Attention now shifts to the Bank of England (BoE), which will announce its monetary policy decision on Wednesday.

Germany’s DAX climbed 0.15% at the opening bell, while the FTSE 100 gained 0.24% at 9:00 am CET. The Euro Stoxx 50 and CAC 40 began the session flat.

In currency markets, the euro traded flat at $1.15395 at 8:59 am CET, while the British pound slipped 0.11% to $1.31385.
