The social media business deleted the accounts of journalists who had been actively covering the company after Musk took over, prompting the European Union to threaten Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, with “sanctions.”
Since Elon Musk’s acquisition of the microblogging platform and that of upstart rival site Mastodon in October, Twitter has reportedly suspended the accounts of numerous journalists who have been covering the new Twit Chief. This is according to Bloomberg News.
Late on Thursday, Twitter disabled the accounts of journalists who work for outlets like the Washington Post, New York Times, Mashable, CNN, and Substack.
Twitter’s live audio platform, Twitter Spaces, is also down after several journalists who had just had their accounts suspended discovered they could still take part in the event there.
