The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Venezuela late Tuesday.

According to available data, the tremor occurred at 10:21 pm UTC, located 18 kilometers east of Mene Grande, a town with a population of around 60,580. The quake’s depth was recorded at 10 kilometers.

The region had earlier witnessed a stronger 6.2-magnitude earthquake, intensifying concerns among residents about seismic activity in the area. Local authorities are monitoring the situation, though no immediate reports of casualties or major damage have surfaced.

Venezuela lies in a seismically active zone, and quakes of this nature often raise alerts for aftershocks. Emergency teams are on standby to assess the impact and provide assistance if required.
