US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social today, criticising the United Kingdom for refusing to expand oil and gas production in the North Sea while Europe faces high energy prices.

Trump wrote: “Europe is desperate for Energy, and yet the United Kingdom refuses to open North Sea Oil, one of the greatest fields in the World. Tragic!!! Aberdeen should be booming.”

He pointed out that Norway sells its North Sea oil to the UK at double the price, saying: “Norway sells its North Sea Oil to the U.K. at double the price. They are making a fortune.”

Trump urged the UK to increase drilling: “U.K., which is better situated on the North Sea for purposes of energy than Norway, should, DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!! It is absolutely crazy that they don’t… AND, NO MORE WINDMILLS!”

The post reflects Trump’s long-standing “drill, baby, drill” energy policy and his criticism of the UK’s current approach under the Labour government, which has maintained strict limits on new North Sea projects and prioritised renewable energy.

The comments come amid ongoing global energy market volatility caused by the Iran conflict and restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, which have driven up prices for European countries heavily dependent on imported oil and gas.

Trump has repeatedly pushed European allies to boost domestic fossil fuel production to reduce reliance on volatile foreign supplies.
