The pandemic and global economic crisis have taken a serious toll on the Dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong-un. At a military speech, the dictator broke down while talking about the truth of his leadership.
He was speaking at a military parade on the weekend which celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Worker’s Party of Korea. As seen in the video, Kim cried as he said, “Our people have placed trust, as high as the sky and as deep as the sea, in me, but I have failed to always live up to it satisfactorily. I am really sorry about that.”
“Although I am entrusted with the important responsibility to lead this country upholding the cause of the great comrades Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il thanks to the trust of all the people, my efforts and sincerity have not been sufficient enough to rid our people of the difficulties in their lives,” he added referring to the previous leaders of North Korea, his grandfather, and father.
His speech was almost similar to the censorship used under the dictatorship of Hitler, using words such as “grave challenges,” “unprecedented disasters,” and “countless ordeals” to win the sympathy of the Korean people.
This just shows that Kim’s leadership is at the bottom leaving him with the only resort, sympathy from the Koreans. The speech was clearly regarding his failing leadership given the pandemic. Ironically, North Korea has not recorded a single COVID-19 case despite the close relations with China.
