China has warned that it will take resolute measures if the United States proceeds with its plan to impose an additional 100% tariff on Chinese goods, escalating tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing would “surely take resolute measures” if Washington “insists on going the wrong way.” He accused the U.S. of “overstretching the concept of national security, abusing export control, and taking discriminatory actions against China,” including restrictions on semiconductor equipment and chips.

Lin added that “willful threats of high tariffs are not the right way to get along with China,” emphasizing that while China does not seek a trade war, it is “not afraid of it.”

Responding to questions about new export restrictions, Lin clarified that China’s export controls are not export bans, stating that licenses would be granted “for eligible applications.”

The remarks come amid growing global concern over the potential impact of heightened U.S. tariffs on supply chains and trade relations.
