As political unrest continues in Belarus, authorities have deported several foreign journalists reporting in the Eastern European nation and withdrawn the accreditation of many reporters covering the anti-government protests.

Two Moscow-based Associated Press journalists were deported to Russia on Saturday.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has also been affected with reportedly two of its journalists stripped of their accreditation.

The move comes almost three weeks after Alexander Lukashenko was re-elected in a disputed presidential election, leading to mass protests across the Eastern European country.

Meanwhile, Russian President said he has formed a police reserve force to intervene in Belarus if necessary, BBC reported.

The United Kingdom and other countries have called on Belarus to stop its violent crackdown on peaceful protesters in the wake of the controversial presidential elections.
