“Once the president’s departure was announced, I knew within minutes chaos would follow. I cannot forgive him for creating that without a transition plan,” he further added.
He also said that the currency rate in Afghanistan was fluctuating adding that Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) was able to stabilize the macroeconomic environment relatively well last week when the Taliban was on an attack spree. A day before Kabul fell, he organized meetings with money exchangers and bank officials to calm them down.
Talking about President Ghani, he said, “He himself had great ideas but poor execution”, further adding that he is ready to take shame if he has contributed to the inefficiency of the government.
According to Reuters, Ahmady was appointed acting governor of Afghanistan’s central bank just over a year ago, having previously worked at the U.S. Treasury, the World Bank, and in private equity.
