According to reports on Sunday, at least 400 million Twitter users’ data was hacked and sold on the dark web.
The stolen material is believed to include information about the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, among other organisations.
The stolen data includes sensitive information such as user names, email addresses, and phone numbers, among other things.
According to reports, the hacker who claims to have stolen the data has approached Twitter with an offer.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote “Twitter or Elon Musk, if you are reading this post, you are already at risk of GDPR fines for data leak of over 54 million users. Now fines for data leak of 400 million users.” He warned Twitter to think carefully.
In addition, the hacker has offered to sell the data. He stated that he is willing to work with any middleman. Meanwhile, experts believe that the data leak could be the result of an API issue.
