MediaTek has announced two new smartphone chips called Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500. These processors are designed for premium Android phones that sit just below full flagship models.
They are meant to deliver high performance, strong gaming features, and powerful on-device AI without the cost of top-tier chips. Phones using these processors are expected to launch soon, though MediaTek has not shared exact timelines.
MediaTek Dimensity 9500s performance, AI and gaming features
The Dimensity 9500s is built using a 3nm process. This makes it more efficient and more powerful than many current chips. It uses an all big core design, which focuses on speed rather than mixing small and large cores.
MediaTek says this chip is made for heavy tasks. Gaming should feel smoother. Graphics are handled by the Immortalis G925 GPU, which supports ray tracing. This allows more realistic lighting and reflections in games.
The chip also focuses heavily on AI. It includes a new AI engine that runs directly on the phone. This allows features like live photo enhancement, object removal from images, and automatic summaries of calls or meetings. These tasks happen without needing the cloud.
Camera support is another strong area. The processor can handle 8K video recording with HDR. It also improves motion tracking and reduces noise in photos and videos.
Connectivity is upgraded too. The chip supports faster 5G speeds, better signal handling, longer Wi-Fi range indoors, and even long-distance Bluetooth connections.
MediaTek Dimensity 8500 targets premium android phones
The Dimensity 8500 sits just below the 9500s. It is built on a 4nm process and is aimed at upper mid-range phones that want flagship-like performance.
It uses eight high-performance CPU cores and is designed to balance speed with battery life. MediaTek claims it is faster than its previous generation while using less power.
Graphics performance is improved as well. Games should run smoother, and supported titles can still use ray tracing. The chip also supports fast memory, which helps with multitasking and loading times.
AI features are a big part of this chip too. It supports language models, image generation, smarter zoom for photos, and better scene detection. These features help phones feel smarter without relying on internet access.
With these two chips, MediaTek is clearly targeting buyers who want premium performance without paying flagship prices. Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500 are expected to power many upcoming Android phones in the near future.
