The 13th Season of American Horror Story is now a definite go. The show will be filming and is set to air on Halloween, along with a reunion of the previous cast members.

Ryan Murphy revealed the cast through a video on social media on Halloween, as well as first look photos of the set when production started on April 6 (expected to wrap up around July 22).

American Horror Story Season 13: Release date speculation

It will be a full year between the time that the cast was announced and when the new season will begin airing on 31 October 2026, so it follows suit with this show’s long hold on Halloween as a great time to release. This will also be one of the longest gaps to date between seasons. No trailers have been released yet but the teasers and set photos are already generating substantial excitement.

American Horror Story Season 13: Cast

Season 13 features a stacked ensemble heavy on AHS veterans, many from Coven (2013) and its crossover Apocalypse (2018), plus a high-profile newcomer:

Returning stars: Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and Jessica Lange (her first major return since earlier seasons; she had a cameo in Apocalypse).

New addition: Ariana Grande (reuniting with Murphy and co-creator Brad Falchuk after Scream Queens).

Murphy shared first-look photos of Jessica Lange on set (April 6, 2026), showing her in a blue dress and heels, peering out an old window—prompting speculation she might reprise Constance Langdon from Murder House or play a new character. Other cast members are expected to appear in witch-related or ensemble roles.

American Horror Story Season 13: Plot details

The plot details are not yet official, but there appears to be enough evidence to suggest that EPC is going to be a continuation/sequel of Coven.

  • The casting appears to reflect Coven (witches at Miss Robichaux’s Academy) and Apocalypse.
  • On April 6, 2026, Murphy responded to a fan’s comment requesting a “Coven extension” by saying “Done.” He confirmed that “the witches are back”.It has been speculated that the new season will be set in the New Orleans witch world and that it could not follow the timeline reset done at the end of Apocalypse.

No complete synopsis has been released as of yet. The last trailer for the show gave only the slightest hint; there was a Halloween 2025 announcement with Vera Lynn “I’ll Be Seeing You” playing and ending with Madison Montgomery saying “Surprise, bitch.” The confirmation of Coven has somewhat limited the guesswork that followed from the previous trailer, although the inclusion of elements from other seasons, e.g., Murder House, may still occur, especially with Lange being involved and given the anthology nature of the series.
