Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey weighed in on Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent debate performance, noting that the lack of a significant boost in the polls was expected. Healey, speaking on “This Week” with co-anchor Martha Raddatz, commented on the close nature of the 2024 presidential race, following a debate where Harris was widely viewed as having the upper hand over former President Donald Trump.
Despite Harris being recognized as the debate winner by many observers, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll showed no substantial change in her favor. Healey was not taken aback by this outcome. “We know that this is going to be a close race,” she said, adding that both Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have crafted a campaign strategy tailored for a competitive election.
Healey’s remarks underscore the ongoing uncertainty and tight competition in the 2024 presidential race. Her comments reflect a broader understanding within the Democratic camp that the election remains highly contested, with no single debate or event likely to shift the dynamics dramatically.
As the campaign progresses, the focus will likely remain on building a resilient strategy that can navigate through the close margins and fluctuating polls, underscoring the critical nature of every campaign move in the run-up to Election Day.
