Former President Donald Trump voiced his displeasure with Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris during an appearance on Fox News. “She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace,” Trump remarked, expressing his frustration with the pop star’s political alignment.
Swift, a global music icon, had previously supported President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, and her recent endorsement of Harris further solidified her stance on the Democratic side. Trump’s comments reflect a broader discontent among his supporters regarding celebrity endorsements of his political opponents.
In the interview, Trump contrasted Swift with Brittany Mahomes, a fitness entrepreneur and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Despite reports suggesting Mahomes had liked a social media post in support of Trump, she has not formally endorsed him. “I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth,” Trump said. “She’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan.”
Trump’s praise for Mahomes highlights a trend of seeking alignment with influencers and celebrities who support his MAGA agenda. “I think Brittany’s great,” Trump continued. “Brittany got a lot of news last week. She’s a big MAGA fan. That’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift.”
The tension over celebrity endorsements has extended beyond Trump’s comments. Elon Musk, tech billionaire and owner of the social media platform X, reacted to Swift’s endorsement with a tongue-in-cheek response. “Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” Musk wrote on X. This response was a nod to Swift’s Instagram post where she referenced the term “childless cat lady,” an apparent jab at past remarks by Senator JD Vance, Trump’s running mate.
