California Secretary of State Shirley Weber will allow Donald Trump to be listed on her state’s primary ballot despite the pressure of banning the former president.

Weber argued that she finds the Republican presidential frontrunner’s actions to be “abhorrent and disturbing and an attack on democracy.” She feels obligated to allow Trump on the ballot as she is required to follow the rule of law.

“But at the same time, if I believe in this democracy that is there, I have to basically continue to abide by the rule of law, and for me not to do that, then I am no better than Trump,” said the secretary in a conversation to The Los Angeles Times on Friday.

She also claimed that her office has been working for past couple of months with secretaries and local officials of other states to figure out if there is a way to remove Trump from the ballot, citing legal grounds.

In her interview with The Los Angeles Times, she also mentioned that the state constitution do not give her the power to ban Trump from the ballot.
