The United States Geological Survey, on Wednesday, issued a warning for a Tsunami to hit the parts of Alaska. The warning has been issued for South Alaska, the Alaskan peninsula and the Aleutian Islands. Although the National Warning System as stated that there is no threat to California.

It has been anticipated that the expected Tsunami was triggered by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake which hit the Alaskan Peninsula on Tuesday at around 10:13 P.M. 520 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska. The Associated Press reports that the quake had a depth of 6 miles (9.6 kilometres) and was located 60 miles (96 kilometres) south-southeast of Perryvile, Alaska.
As per the Anchorage Daily News, schools in the district have opened their doors for evacuees. Masks and being distributed and about 300-400 people have already taken shelters in the institutions.
