Sharmin Sehgal opened up on why she did not work with her uncle filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Ram Leela, but did work with him in Bajirao Mastani. In an interview with News 18, Sharmin revealed that the first time she ever assisted on was the film Mary Kom, adding that her first salary was Rs. 7,500.
“I could’ve worked in Ram Leela but I felt like I didn’t deserve that chance of assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali at that point. I was completely new and I knew nothing about filmmaking. So, I thought of hanging around in the back on the sets of Mary Kom and see what I can pick up, understand and take away and then maybe I could go to assist Sanjay sir with something,” said the Heermandi actress.
She also revealed that while Bajirao Mastani was the first Bhansali film she assisted on, Mary Kom was the first film she ever assisted on.
The actress was recently seen in Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which also marked the debut web series for the filmmaker.
