700 MW KAPP – 3 has now become operationalised , which is the big acheivement of Make In India Project. Twitted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Congratulations to our nuclear scientists for achieving criticality of Kakrapar Atomic Power Plant-3! This indigenously designed 700 MWe KAPP-3 reactor is a shining example of Make in India. And a trailblazer for many such future achievements!
Also, KAPP are developed and operated by Nuclear Power Cooperation Of India. Therefore, KAPP3 is a Mark -V type category of PHWR( Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor). However, there are some improved safety features. Since, the new unit is equipped with steam generator of 215t. Therefore, PM Narendra Modi authorizes Kakrapar Atomic Power Plant 3 for operations.
