French authorities have arrested five additional suspects in connection with the high-profile jewel robbery at the Louvre Museum, intensifying the investigation into one of Paris’ most audacious daylight thefts in recent years. Paris public prosecutor Laure Beccuau confirmed the overnight arrests in the capital region, noting that they include a key suspect believed to have played a central role.

The heist, carried out on October 19, involved four masked intruders who broke through museum security and made off with eight historic artefacts worth €88 million. Two individuals previously detained had partially confessed to the crime, but the latest arrests indicate the operation may have involved a wider network than initially believed, as authorities continue to analyse surveillance footage and intelligence leads.

Officials say the investigation remains active as police work to trace the remaining members of the suspected organised group and recover the stolen items.
