Joe Biden Kamala Harris launch joint White House bid, ready for the ‘America crying out for leadership’

Democrat candidate Joe Biden and his vice presidential pick Kamala Harris hosted their first in-person campaign event on Wednesday in Wilmington. Biden officially introduced the California Senator as his VP pick and the pair went on to assail Trump for his inefficient governance.

Emphasizing on his VP choice Biden said, “Kamala knows how to govern. She knows how to make the hard calls. She’s ready to do this job on day one.” He also added that Kamala’a story is America’s story, daughter of immigrants, woman of colour who rose to the top ranks of Us political circles and made history. He said that Kamala is the right woman to help him defeat Trump and save the nation facing a three-fold crisis; a raging pandemic, a slumping economy and racial injustice. Biden vowed to ‘rebuild the country’ with Harris.

Harris who spoke after Biden blasted Trump for his lack of empathy and competence as the leader navigating the country through the pandemic.”This is a moment of real consequence for America. Everything we care about – our economy, our health, our children, the kind of country we live in – it’s all on the line,” she said. Harris said that Trump is a president who cares more about himself than the citizens and that the country, which he left in tatters, is crying out for leadership.

Harris went on to blame Trump for mishandling the Coronavirus outbreak in the US, calling him ‘delusional’ and said that he is the reason US is doing worse than any other advanced nation. She also added that the mismanagement by Trump has plunged the US into the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Hailing Biden as a compassionate leader she said that she is ‘ready to work’ and is ‘honoured’ to take up this responsibility.

The pair hosted an online fundraiser following the speeches and the Trump campaign retaliated quickly after the event, launching an array of personal attacks again.
