A Jaipur local court, on Thursday, has ordered the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) to investigate the role of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Rs. 884 crore Sanjivini Credit Cooperative Society Sca. The claim by the petitioners reported the SOG’s finding of the money being allegedly transferred to the companies owned by the minister, his wife, and others.

This investigation has been in motion since last year although there was not investigation conducted on the involvement of the minister and his family.

Started in the year 2008, the Sanjivini Credit Cooperative Society offered high interest rates on deposits and thus lured investors. The society tricked these investors by siphoning their money under fake loans, as reported by the Indian Express.

This order by the court comes amidst the ongoing political turmoil in the state of rajasthan. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has also been accused by the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for attempting to topple the state government.

He has also been accused of as being one of the senior BJP leaders who plotted against the state government in the “leaked audio tapes”. The SOG had issued a subpoena to Shekhawat for his alleged involvement in the conversation recorded in these audio tapes.

Shekhawat, since then, has been questioning the very credibility of these tapes. “They should first clarify about the authenticity of these tapes. Who recorded it and where did SOG get it from. Investigation should be carried out to find out if these tapes are genuine or not”, said Shekhawat in a statement.

The FIR on the scam was registered last year on August 23, 2019. The Special Operations Group’s Jaipur unit has been investigating into the scam since last year.
