A tragic incident unfolded in Kundmala, a popular tourist spot near Talegaon Dabhade in Pune’s Maval taluka, where an old bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed on Sunday. According to reports, 25 to 30 tourists who were on the bridge at the time are feared to have been washed away in the river.
The incident took place in the rural Pune region of Maharashtra, and the bridge was reportedly overwhelmed by a large crowd of tourists, as it was a Sunday. The continuous rainfall in the Maval area over the past two days has caused the water level in the Indrayani River to rise significantly, likely contributing to the collapse.
As soon as the incident was reported, local police, villagers, and disaster response teams rushed to the spot. A massive rescue operation is currently underway to trace those who fell into the river.
Authorities say every effort is being made to save lives, but the strong river current and high water levels are posing challenges to the operation.
This is a developing story.
