Virender Sehwag, the legendary Indian opener and one of the finest batsman the game has ever had turns 42 today. He is also regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen of all time.

All the cricket group took over social media to wish ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’ on his 42 birthday.

Suresh Raina took to Twitter to wish Virender Sehwag. “Happy birthday viru bhai @virendersehwag My big brother, always inspired me & guided through various paths of life. Wishing you nothing but the best always. Have an amazing day paji,” Raina wrote on Twitter.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also took to Twitter to wish the batsman happy birthday and also highlighted some of the achievements of Sehwag in international arena.  

Harbhajan Singh also took to Twitter to wish the legend. “Le hatho mai hath chal tuu oh sathi chal… Happy birthday brother @virendersehwag Kush raho tandrust raho..#legand#HappyBirthdayVirenderSehwag”. 

IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) took over Twitter to wish the ‘Multan ka Sultan’: “Nawab of Najafgarh.

  • Virender Sehwag holds the highest score record made by an Indian in Test cricket (319) against South Africa.
  • He is the only batsman in India to score double hundred in ODI and triple centuries in Test cricket.
  • He is one of the four batsmen in the world to have ever surpassed 300 twice in test cricket.
  • Virender Sehwag smashed the fastest century ever scored by an Indian in ODI cricket.
  • Virender Sehwag has been honoured with many prestigious awards like, Arjuna Award, Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World in 2008, ICC Test Player of the year 2010 and Padma Shree in 2010.
