In the times of the COVID-19 pandemic, many viewers have started consuming content on several OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5 and many more. Many shows are streaming on these platforms that are made by Indian creators. In the recent past shows like ‘Aarya’, ‘Paatal Lok’, ‘Hundred’, ‘Special Ops’ and movies like ‘Bulbbul‘ and ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ have hit it out of the park. Here is a list of Indian shows and movies that will release on OTT platforms that we are the most excited about: –
1-Breathe: Into the Shadows- Amazon Prime Video (Date: -10th July 2020)
Breathe starring Abhishek Bachchan and Nithya Menen is a crime thriller. Abhishek and Nithya play parents and their story revolves around the kidnapping of their daughter. In this story, Kabir Sawant played by Amit Sadh takes over the case. This original series is from the perspective of a doting father played by Abhishek Bacchan.

2- Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl- Netflix (Date: – To Be Announced)
Gunjan Saxena starring Janhvi Kapoor is based on a real-life story. Janhvi plays Gunjan Saxena who is the first woman Air Force Officer to enter a war zone during the Kargil War in 1999. She was the first woman to fly a Cheetah helicopter and she changed history. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi as Janhvi’s father. It was meant to release in theatres in April but now due to the Lockdown, it will release directly on Netflix.
3- Virgin Bhanupriya- Zee5 (Date: – 16th July 2020)
Virgin Bhanupriya stars Urvashi Rautela, Archana Puran Singh, Gautam Gulati and Delnaaz Irani among many others. This film is a family comedy and explores the dynamics of a young girl and her family. Urvashi plays Bhanupriya who is a conservative girl who decides to lose her virginity but fails in every attempt.
4- Dilli- Amazon Prime Video (Date:- To Be Announced)
Dilli, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, stars Saif Ali Khan, Sunil Grover, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, Dimple Kapadia and Sarah Jane Dias. This story is a political drama is based in Lutyen’s Delhi and JNU—with changed names. The show is about murders, sex scandals and politics. This is Saif Ali Khan’s second series and after Sacred Games, we cannot keep calm.
5- Shakuntala Devi- Amazon Prime Video ( Date: – 31st July 2020 )
Directed by Anu Menon, Shakuntala Devi is based on an Indian writer and mental calculator popularly knows a “human computer.” Vidya Balan plays Shakuntala Devi who earned her play in the 1982 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records. The movie also stars Sanya Malhotra as Anupama Banerjee. This movie was originally going to have a theatrical release on 8th May 2020 but now will directly release on Amazon Prime Video.
6- A Suitable Boy- Netflix (Date: – To Be Announced)
The Ishaan Khatter, Tabu and debutant Tanya Maniktala starrer is based on a book set in a newly post-independence and post-partition India. The novel covers a story of over 18 months. This series is directed by the critically acclaimed Mira Nair and will hit the Netflix screens soon.
7-Laxxmi Bomb- Disney+ Hotstar (Date:- To Be Announced)
The official remake of the South Indian film Kanchana is going to be directed by Raghava Lawrence who directed and starred in the original. The remake stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in lead roles. This big-budget film is a horror-comedy where Akshay will play a transgender character. This marks Kiara and Akshay’s third collaboration after Fugly and Good Newwz.
8- Dil Bechara- Disney+ Hotstar (Date: – 24th July 2020)
Saving the most-awaited and best for the last- Dil Bechara. This is the official Hindi adaptation of ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ which stars Late Sushant Singh Rajput and debutant Sanjana Sanghi. This also marks the directorial debut on the casting director Mukesh Chhabra and the adaptation is done by Shashank Khaitan. This will be Sushant’s last movie and will be available for non-subscribers as well in Sushant’s memory. The story is a love story where the female character is detected with cancer. The trailer of the movie drops tomorrow on Monday, 6th June.
