Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the second son of the late Queen Elizabeth II and brother of King Charles III, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, police confirmed on Thursday.
According to a statement from Thames Valley Police, officers have taken the 66-year-old into custody and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. Authorities said the arrest follows an assessment of a complaint relating to the alleged sharing of confidential material.
The development is linked to an ongoing review of allegations connected to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Police said they were examining claims that confidential information may have been improperly disclosed. No formal charges have been announced at this stage.
Photos circulating earlier in the day showed vehicles arriving at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk as officers conducted inquiries.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently and strenuously denied any wrongdoing in previous matters related to Epstein. Police said investigations remain ongoing and further updates will be issued as appropriate.
