In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated a raid on the residence of Bacha Rai, the alleged orchestrator behind the Bihar topper scam. Rai gained notoriety for his involvement in the scandal, which garnered public attention.

On 24th November, the ED formally filed an FIR against Bachcha Rai, citing unauthorized construction activities on a plot in Hajipur, Vaishali district. The ED’s Assistant Director, Rajiv Ranjan, highlighted in the FIR that a confidential tip-off prompted their investigation into the illegal construction taking place on the confiscated 42 decimal land (1 decimal equivalent to 48.4 square yards).

The charges pressed against the accused include Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated), 425 (mischief), 426 (punishment for mischief), 441 (criminal trespass), and 447 (punishment for criminal trespass) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This recent ED raid adds another layer to the legal troubles faced by Bacha Rai, the alleged mastermind of the Bihar topper scam.
