The most wanted gangster, Vikas Dubey, who has been accused of killing 8 policemen in Kanpur, was arrested by the UP police on Thursday. The accused was arrested in Ujjain’s Mahakaal Temple where he had arrived to offer prayers. Dubey was identified by the security guard of the temple who further informed the police and thus his arrest was successful.

“Whole Madhya Pradhesh police were on alert”, said Narottam Mishra, a minister from Madhya Pradesh. With Dubey’s cousin living in Madhya Pradesh, there were speculations that he might flee to the state to protect himself but failed and was caught on Thursday. “We have informed the UP police of the arrest. Their officers will be coming here Further information will be released after that”, added the Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Dubey has been accused of killing a team of 8 policemen who were killed on Friday when they went to Bikru village of Chaubeypur area of Kanpur.

Meanwhile, in a separate encounter in UP, two of Dubey’s aides were killed this morning who were trying to flee as well. Prabhat, one of his aides, was arrested in Faridabad and was being brought to Kanpur when he stole a policemen’s pistol and tried to run. He was shot by one of the policemen bringing him back.

Bauva Dubey alias Praveen was shot dead this morning in Etawah by the police.

The arrest of the notorious gangster is a big success for the Madhya Pradesh police, said Narottam Mishra.
